Yes! We bought the Montego in Sarasota, and now we’re back! In fact, we are right across the bay from Marina Jack, where we bought the boat off a mooring. We are now at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron, with the boat safely and conveniently out of the water on our trailer!
Allow me to explain. Actually, please click HERE for the post on the SSS website 🙂
And here are a few pictures of our new home:
At home in L-8
View from the dock near the lift, “Big Danny”. Mid-ground, left, you see a few of the slips. There aren’t many, as most boats at the squadron are either “trailer-sailors” or dinghies. The building in the center, by the radio tower houses the Sarasota Youth Sailing program as well as shelves and shelves of small dinghies such as Optis, Sunfish, Lasers, Kayaks, and SUPs. Beyond that building to the left is outdoor storage for more Lasers and such, plus beach catamarans such as Hobie Cats. The building to the right of the radio tower is the Clubhouse/Lounge/Office building.
The montego, where he spent the night Sunday night. We did get a short sail in Sunday with the kids, as you’ll see if you read the SSS post, but Monday the weather was uncertain, as was our motor running, so we just spent the day hanging around the club.
The bar. Minors not allowed behind the bar, but any Member can tend bar – for him or herself, or others – or both 😉 In fact it is encouraged as part of the mandatory volunteer hours.
Reading area, library, fireplace. Sharon doing homework using club WiFi during the rainy day.
Sitting area across from the bar in the members lounge. Sharon doing homework on a rainy day using club WiFi.
Two days later, I went up and worked from the Club. Here was my office for the day. I was to far from WiFi, so I just used the 4G tethering (mobile wifi hotspot) on my phone.
As you can tell, we LOVE our new home at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron! Wonderful people, great spot, great value. So far we believe their slogan – the Best Sailing Club in The World!
